Abstract

The author summarizes the creation and evolution of the province of Santiago, while highlighting key milestones in the history of the municipality of Santiago as a provincial axis and offers touches on aspects of popu- lar religiosity, art and culture and the presence of the woman in certain areas.

Edwin Espinal Hernandez
Graduated in Law from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, where he is a professor of Intellectual Property Law. He is a Corresponding Member of the Duartian Institute and a Number Member of the Dominican Institute of Genealogy and the Dominican Academy of History, of which he is the current director. He is the Eduardo León Jimenes National Book Fair Award 2006 for his work Social History of Santiago de los Caballeros, 1863-1900 and the José Gabriel García National History Award 2020 for his work Social History of Santiago de los Caballeros, 1900-1916.
