Abstract

Let's start better by looking at the map and asking ourselves: From When was this sea delimited by the Antilles, Central America and part of the north coast of South America called the Caribbean? When did the name Caribe del mar pass to the imprecise geography of some or all of the land masses that surround it? Words, like everything human, are always loaded with stories and, therefore, with ideologies and discourses, with imaginaries.
