Abstract

When the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) granted us the enjoyment of a sabbatical year in 1997, we traveled to the sister island of Puerto Rico and made some inquiries in the Historical Archive of Old San Juan, attached to the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, and looking for certain information about our colonial history of the early nineteenth century, we circumstantially located, without intending to, some news about Commodore David Porter.
