Abstract

This article is the result of the seminar on history and culture titled «Women of our history». It was carried out with students of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, with the purpose of letting this target audience know the most relevant historical facts of the Dominican history from a gender perspective. The central point is to show how the Dominican woman has been object of violence throughout the history of the country. At the same time a dialogueis established between the past and the present where women have been mistreated and silenced and heroes are always males.
