Between the years 1966 and 1992 when the Soviet Union and the so-called socialist camp collapsed, the Dominican Communist Party (PCD) carried out an ambitious scholarship program for young Dominicans to study in these countries. During this period, hundreds of Dominican professionals graduated from universities and higher education centres in these countries. The present work is an effort for documenting and making explicit the contributions that the professionals graduates of the then socialist field have been doing to the socioeconomic development of the Dominican Republic.
