Abstract

The work presented below seeks to establish as far as possible a vision that reveals the political behavior of Pedro Santana, as well as its contextual worldview of a poor and backward society whose horizon was undefined and pressured by the international reality. Such work expresses distrust and denial of the belief of the impossibility that the nascent nation had to maintain its independence and sovereignty. Santana never believed in his own excecution to achieve the goal although he was the reason for the triumph. Without resting, he always sought the formula that would allow him to deliver the nation to the highest bidders that were then France, the United States, and Spain, among others. He, without measuring reasons, he repressed, imprisoned, expelled and eliminated his political enemies. In such manner one can summarize general Santana as governor.
