This article describes what the author understands to be the two moments of greatest economic apogee of the Catholic Church, before and after independence in 1844. For the first moment, it begins by analyzing how colonization is justified and sustained by a theological-political system. For the second moment, it analyzes the submission of the Catholic Church and the Trujillo dictatorship with the signing of the Concordat. The article also describes the elements that maintain the privileged status of the Catholic Church over other religions. And the way in which this church has been, above the law, receiving grandiose benefits typical of feudalism without the slightest transparency in their management.
