Abstract

To highlight practices of foreign influence and control employed by the United States during the Cold War, this analysis draws from hundreds of archived U.S. government documents to produce a narrative of American involvement in the politics of the Dominican Republic in the 1960s. It focuses on the experience of Juan Bosch and other contemporary political leaders in particular. This project also seeks to promote archival studies of this type, which will be necessary to develop a more complete Dominican historical narrative.
