/ The general Marcano

Abstract

Dominican Luis Marcano, with his two brothers Francisco and Felix, was forced to move to Cuba in 1865 with the Spanish army that had occupied his homeland since  1861. The Marcano brothers, officers of the armed forces Dominicans, supported the attempt to reestablish the decadent Hispanic dominance in Quisqueya. In the greatest of Antilles, Luis settled in the jurisdiction of Manzanillo, in the eastern part of the island.
