Shortly after the independence of 1844, a trend of liberalism began to emerge in the city of Santiago, which did not propose to directly question the conservatism of the central government, but, rather, to thrive under its shadow, taking advantage of the presence of the liberal components that contained the conservative thought of the lawyers who occupied the preeminent governmental positions.
