In this work we present some aspects of the development of gavillerismo and its characteristics from the beginning of this century until 1924. We will try to explain the origin of the resistance of the peasants to the first US military occupation. We consider the gavilleros movement as an expression of the peasant movement. Not as a rural revolt organized with clear ends or an internal organization that would allow the structuring of stable leadership.
