Abstract

I had a kind of conversation with Mario Vargas Llosa near the cathedral of Santo Domingo. He was a tourist in the company of Soledad Alvarez and I was partying at the Palacio de la Esquizofrenia -Cafetería Restaurante El Conde, by the way- in the company of Victor Villegas and Alfredo Pierre. So, I was enjoying the evening and a few beers when I saw them arrive: Soledad smiling, Vargas Llosa smiling, handshakes, another handshake, many hands, much effusion of words and “mucho gusto” (something like the perpetual orgy). Two minutes later we were old friends.
