Abstract

The present work, in its central aspect, constitutes a reflection on the participation of women in the fight against the military occupation of the United States on Dominican soil in 1916. It is argued that the Dominicans who were involved in the patriotic civic movement of the first intervention constituted a woman who lacked the legal-formal status of citizens. It is argued at that time; however, they manifested a civil consciousness that led them to exercise moral citizenship with their intervention in the fight against the intervening soldiers.
