In the General Archive of the Nation of this city of Santo Domingo, in the Volume of the Book of Protocols of the licensed public notaries José Troncoso and Abad Solano, corresponding to the year 1831, there is an act registered with No. 122 that, due to its importance and novelty, I copied it by hand and reproduced with some annotations. The way I found it was casual since I was investigating everything related to the "Engombe Mill", from its origins in the first half of the 16th century until its disappearance. The relative and researcher, Lic. Walter Cordero, confided to me that he believed he had seen a notarial act from the time of “political unification with Haiti, in which the said sugar-producing unit was mentioned. In the General Archive of the Nation, I asked for the Protocol Books of the public notaries who were practicing in the city of Santo Domingo at that time and, after a broad search, I found the historical document that is the object of these comments.
