Abstract

On November 15, 1843, the Trinidadian leaders Vicente Celestino Duarte and Francisco Sánchez, wrote a memorable letter to their boss and mentor Juan Pablo Duarte, who was in Caracas at the time, negotiating with the President of the Republic of Venezuela, General Carlos Soublette, the achievement of the essential elements to enlist the liberating expedition with which he had to disembark in December through our southern port of Guayacanes, natural entrance to Los Llanos de Arriba, an important region where the aforementioned Vicente Duarte, the determined Juan Ramírez and the meritorious Father Carrasco had achieved that the cause of independence had no opponents.
